Facts and figures for 250cc race

The key numbers and statistics relating to Sunday´s quarter litre class 250cc contest.

- Hiroshi Aoyama starts from pole for the first time since the Malaysian Grand Prix last year when he went on to win the race – that was also the last time that he stood on the top step of the podium.

- Alvaro Bautista has finished on the podium at the last eight successive races since finishing second in Catalunya.

- Marco Simoncelli starts from the front row for the eleventh successive race. Simoncelli can clinch the world title by finishing on the podium irrespective of where any other riders finish.

- If Marco Simoncelli wins the world title he would enter the record books as the first rider to trail the leader by as much as 49 points in the championship standings at one stage and still win the title.

- For the third successive race the two factory KTM riders Hiroshi Aoyama and Mika Kallio have both qualified on the front row of the grid.

- Ratthapark Wilairot´s fifth place on the grid is a great improvement on his previous best qualifying result of twelfth at the Australian GP two weeks ago. It is the best ever Grand Prix qualifying result by a rider from Thailand.
