Friday top man Hayden hoping to hang on in the dry

Nicky Hayden is hoping to build on his impressive start in Valencia, even if conditions brighten up at the Spanish track.

The quickest rider in both Friday sessions in preparation for the Gran Premio Parts Europe de la Comunitat Valenciana, Nicky Hayden is confident of carrying his wet weather form into the predicted drier Saturday runs. The Repsol Honda rider has extra motivation for the weekend with it being his final race for the team.

`I really want to try and get a good result on Sunday. I´ve been with the team for a long time and I owe it to them,´ said the American after putting down a 1´45.777 lap of the Valencia circuit in damp conditions.

`We´ve got a good wet setting that we´ve been using for most of the season, and we´re off to a good start. Nobody is going to remember on Sunday night who was fastest in the wet on Friday though! Hopefully the weather will change but our position won´t much!

`It´s a track that I like and that suits my style so, as long as the tyres work well, we should have no excuses.´

Hayden´s best result at Valencia is second in the 2005 race, held in sunnier and drier conditions to those experienced this Friday in eastern Spain.
