Valencia weekend commences in wet and cold conditions

The early morning conditions at the Ricardo Tormo circuit on Friday were cold, damp and grey, but the weathermen predict an improvement as the weekend continues.

The Gran Premio Parts Europe de la Comunitat Valenciana got underway on Friday morning on Spain´s Mediterranean coast in conditions unfamiliar to the millions of tourists who visit the region for their summer holidays each year, as light drizzle and dark clouds shrouded the Ricardo Tormo circuit.

The opening 125cc free practice outing commenced with the riders taking things carefully around the 4km Spanish track, as the action at the very last round of the season kicked off at 9am. Fortunately, better weather is predicted for Saturday and Sunday at MotoGP´s end of season fiesta.

Following the 10am MotoGP FP1 and 11.15am 250cc outing there will be a special lunchtime presentation to Alex Criville, as Spain´s only ever premier class world title winner, in celebration of the 60th season of World Championship competition, with qualifying and practice continuing in the afternoon at the normal times.
