Local boy Terol takes control on Saturday morning

Nico Terol came out swinging in the final 125cc practice session of the year.

After his Jack&Jones WRB teammate Simone Corsi took provisional pole for the Gran Premio Parts Europe de la Comunitat Valenciana on Friday, local rider Nico Terol came back with the fastest time of the Saturday morning 125cc practice session. The Alcoy-born teenager recorded a best time of 1´50.716 in dry conditions.

A late charge for the top spot came from Sepang runner-up Bradley Smith, desperate for a first Grand Prix victory before the season is out and well aware that qualifying has let him down in recent races. The Polaris World rider was just 0.087 down on Terol with his final hot lap, as he looks for a front row start at one of his most familiar tracks.

Pol Espargaro, Esteve Rabat and provisional poleman Corsi were the only other riders within a second of Terol´s time, whilst World Champion Mike di Meglio, Lorenzo Zanetti, Sandro Cortese and Joan Olive completed the top ten. 2007 titlist Gabor Talmacsi was down in thirteenth.
