Happy Dovizioso reviews first day with Repsol Honda

Italian youngster Andrea Dovizioso was pleased after getting his first sample of the Bridgestone tyres and factory RC212V he will run in 2009.

Monday´s first day of winter testing at Valencia was a big day for several men moving to new teams for next year´s World Championship and Andrea Dovizioso is one of those riders who took on the new challenge with relish, as he switched from satellite to factory Honda machinery.

The 22 year-old joined his new teammate Dani Pedrosa on a Bridgestone equipped RC212V for 57 important test laps and his best time of 1´33.676 was enough to put him eighth on the timesheet – a second and a half down on quickest rider Casey Stoner´s fastest lap.

`It was a really nice feeling to try this bike because there are many things about it which are better,´ Dovizioso said afterwards. `One of the main things was the good feeling with the stability on the front which we had many problems with this year on the old bike, so I am really happy about that.´

He continued, `Also with the engine there is more power so I am quite happy with that too, but I want to understand much more about the new bike because especially with the traction control and the electronics systems there are many things to get used to and at the moment I don´t understand them.´
