Folger sets sights on full-time World Championship ride

Folger sets sights on full-time World Championship ride

Red Bull MotoGP Academy rider Jonas Folger is looking to become a 125cc World Championship regular next year.

Young German Jonas Folger began the year with a clearly-defined objective of learning World Championship tracks, and finished 2008 with his first six Grand Prix experiences under his belt.

The teenager finished eighteenth at his final race of the season in Valencia, believes that he is now ready for a full-time ride on the biggest stage of 125cc racing.

`I think that I can ride regularly in the points in the World Championship,´ says Folger, a longtime participant in the Red Bull MotoGP Academy scheme. `We´ll have some meetings this week with teams, and I hope that we can find one and some good sponsors.´

The last twelve months have been an important learning process for Folger, who has taken national championship podium finishes and a best Grand Prix result of fifteenth (at Misano). His education has not just come on-track, but also in the garage as he picks up the necessary know-how for a riding career.

`I learnt a lot this year, especially from the team. Things like how to work on changes to the bike were important. I still need to improve on Fridays and Saturdays, that´s for sure, because I´m really bad in practice at the moment,´ he concluded.
