Excitement and nerves for KTM newcomer Beaubier

Red Bull MotoGP Academy graduate confesses to pre-debut nervousness.

A new addition to the 125cc grid for 2009, Cameron Beaubier is the latest graduate of the Red Bull MotoGP Academy to make the step up to the World Championship. The American follows in the footsteps of Bradley Smith and Takaaki Nakagami, two riders brought up through the ranks to have their shot at the international stage.

Familiar with select circuits on the Grand Prix calendar, Beaubier also has plenty of experience with the KTM machinery with which he will make his debut. It is the same bike used in 2008 by the Academy, on which he has put in a string of impressive results in the CEV Buckler Spanish Championship, although the youngster confesses that he is nonetheless feeling some nerves ahead of his maiden season.

`I´m really excited and a little nervous about next year; I thought that I´d spend another year in the Spanish series, and I´m not entirely sure if I am ready yet,´ says Beaubier.

`My manager mentioned the possibility of the ride, and then I spoke with the team in Indianapolis.´

Beaubier will be one of two KTM riders in the lower cylinder category next year, as part of the Austrian factory´s streamlined project.
