Bautista continues as 250cc top man in Valencia test

Spaniard clocks 1´38.1 lap to head timesheets at home circuit, in last of two days of testing.

The second day and final day of lower cylinder category testing in Valencia concluded much like the first, with Alvaro Bautista the fastest rider on track in the 250cc class. The Spaniard was sharing the track once more with two new additions to the quarter-litre grid, but put down the quickest time of the day with a 1´38.1 lap of his home circuit.

Bautista and new teammate Gabor Talmacsi clocked near-identical times onboard their respective Aspar Aprilia bikes, whilst 125cc World Champion Mike di Meglio was just 0.005 down on the duo in his second outing on a 250cc bike. Reigning 250cc World Champion Marco Simoncelli, meanwhile, was testing an Aprilia superbike as a reward for his title win.

Moving down a class for 2009, Julian Simon was the quickest 125cc rider of the day, his 1´40.5 final lap putting him ahead of Andrea Iannone, Bradley Smith and Sergio Gadea. Simon was fastest by half a second.
