Statistics for the 125cc Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
- Pol Espargaro starts from pole for the second time in his GP career. His other pole was at Catalunya earlier this year where he went on to finish second, his best ever GP result.
- Mike di Meglio returns to the front row for the first time since the Dutch TT. Di Meglio's crash at Misano resulted in him failing to score points for the first time this year.
- For the second time this year, Derbi riders have taken the top two spots on the grid – the other occasion this happened was at Catalunya.
- For the first time in his GP career Stefan Bradl has qualified as the top Aprilia rider on the grid.
- Danny Webb is starting from the front row for the second time, equalling his best ever grid position achieved at the Portuguese round earlier this year.
- Andrea Iannone has not returned to the podium in the eight races since he won the Chinese Grand Prix back in May.
- After being on the podium three times in the first five races of the year, Nicolas Terol has now gone seven races without a top three finish.
- Gabor Talmacsi, who will be aiming for back-to-back GP victories for the first time, has qualified down in 16th place – his lowest grid position since he was the 17th-placed qualifier in Qatar in 2004, riding a Malaguti.
- At the age of 15 years and 38 days PJ Jacobsen will become the youngest ever American rider to start a Grand Prix, taking the record from Jason di Salvo.
