125cc riders rev up for Malaysia

Mike di Meglio wrapped up the 125cc title in style at Phillip Island in the antepenultimate round of the season, taking victory in Australia in a performance that assured him of the 2008 honour. The Ajo Motorsport rider now holds an unassailable advantage over his rivals in the class.

Stefan Bradl is already assured of his best ever Grand Prix season result, but a sixth career podium last time out gave the German rider the added bonus of moving up to second in the standings. Grizzly Gas Kiefer Racing rider Bradl now leads Simone Corsi by four points in the race for the runner-up spot, with 2007 World Champion Gabor Talmacsi only a further two points down on Bradl´s total.

Nicolas Terol rounds off a top five of riders who have tasted victory in 2008, ahead of four riders achingly close to a first Grand prix triumph this season. Joan Olive, Bradley Smith, Sandro Cortese and Pol Espargaro have all troubled the aspirants to the top step this year, although the only other racewinner in the top ten remains British Grand Prix victor Scott Redding.
