Alvaro Bautista, Thomas Luthi and Marco Simoncelli all had a tough time in getting onto the quarter litre podium in Assen.

Alvaro Bautista

`For sure it has been a good race, also for the championship. Most importantly I had a good feeling and confidence, as this is now 3 consecutive podiums. Today was very difficult, raining sometimes and sometimes not…a crazy race! I started not so good and touched some riders, then got Luthi after he went away. When I caught him I tried to push more and go away. I preferred to wait for better weather, and at the finish the rain stopped and I pushed harder to establish the gap.´

Thomas Luthi

`It was a strange race. I was aggressive on the start, touching Simoncelli so sorry for that. I had good pace, Alvaro was strong too, and I tried to make a break but felt a bit lost not knowing how fast it was possible to go. Alvaro passed me, then I just had to hold on to second place. It was an important podium for me.´

Marco Simoncelli

`Today was very difficult; I had Thomas touch me on the first corner and I lost a lot of time and positions. On the third and fourth corner gap Barbera passed me and I lost more positions, but after this I got a good pace and I could pass the riders ahead. Today was very difficult because of the rain at times, as it was hard to understand the limit. I pushed hard and then got away, so this is a very good result.´
