The thoughts of the quarter-litre top three on the fantastic race at Phillip Island.
Marco Simoncelli – Race Winner
`Today has been a fantastic race with Alvaro. It was a great fight from the first until the last lap. I tried all race to do my best, but Alvaro was always very close to me. On the last lap I knew that he would try to pass, so I tried to close all the doors and I was successful in this, which was fantastic. Congratulations to Alvaro, he made me have to ride a great race.´
Alvaro Bautista – Second Placed
`For sure I tried everything to win the race. In the end it was not possible, but I'm happy because I did the maximum that I could. In the beginning I tried to stay in front, but it was difficult because Marco also wanted to do that. We fought so much out there. In the middle of the race I touched Marco and went a little out, then pushed very hard to catch him again. He closed the corners very well on the final lap. I´m happy with the race and the good fight that we had.´
Mika Kallio – Third Placed
`It was a good fight, and I knew that Simon would be fast and try to overtake me at some corners where he was faster. I made a small mistake on the third to last corner and he passed me, so I used my slipstream to manage to pass him. Third is not too bad, but for the championship it is not a good result, now there is no more chance of winning the title. Now we just have to see what the last results are.´
