Barbera leads off 250cc warmup

Hector Barbera recorded the fastest time of the 250cc warmup session at the Sachsenring circuit, showing strong form ahead as he chases his first victory of the season. The Team Toth Aprilia man put in a time of 1´33.954 in a wet session, the only rider to go round in under 1´34.

2007 racewinner Hiroshi Aoyama was second quickest in the session, just over a tenth of a second slower than Barbera´s time. Poleman Marco Simoncelli was third in the morning session, some nine-tenths down, whilst Julian Simon was fourth quickest.

Eugene Laverty was the surprise of the morning, fifth quickest and ahead of World Championship leader Mika Kallio. The Northern Irishman may have less power at his disposal than his rivals, but a wet track and the tightness of the Sachsenring track should close up the field during the quarter-litre showdown.

Alvaro Bautista, Thomas Luthi, Lukas Pesek and Alex Debon completed the top ten.
