Capirossi finds direction on 277th Grand Prix appearance
`Professor Capirossi´ learnt something new on his record-breaking Misano appearance, further familiarising himself with a new Suzuki chassis.
Loris Capirossi´s record breaking 277th Grand Prix appearance may not have ended with a repeat of his Brno podium return, but the Italian was still happy that an important step had been taken with the Rizla Suzuki GSV-R. Capirossi had a busy weekend due to the arrival of a new chassis used previously only at the post-race Czech Republic test, but believes that any early teething problems had been resolved by the end of the Sunday race.
`I´m happy with the race. We lost a lot of time in practice with the setting,´ said the 35 year-old. Capirossi had switched from the previous chassis to the new version after last Friday´s opening session, with an immediate improvement that continued throughout the Sunday Grand Prix.
`I kept getting better lap-by-lap, and in the end I was quite fast. I think that we need to work the same way as we did this weekend in order to go well in the future,´ continued the Suzuki rider.
On his milestone achievement, commemorated with the presentation of a cake in the team garage after the warmup session, Capirossi was understandably proud –although he was still keeping one eye on the future despite the nostalgia of so many Grand Prix outings.
`Its an honour, and a lot of races. The important thing though is to be as competitive as we have been in the past.´
