Celebrity chef adds name to Derbi recipe for success

Two of Spain´s strong 125cc lineup for 2009 will form a new team for the upcoming season, as Pol Espargaro and Efren Vazquez take part in Derbi´s latest lower cylinder category project. In addition to Vazquez´ involvement, previously unconfirmed in the official entry list, the team´s title sponsor has also been announced.

Bainet Derbi will receive the support of production company Bainet Media S.A., a group formed by Spanish celebrity chef Karlos Arguinano. The cook is a keen follower of the MotoGP World Championship, and is even entrusted with the task of cooking an annual paella for invited guests when the series visits Motegi in Japan.

Factory rider Espargaro will be leading the Derbi charge in the 125cc class, as the Piaggio Group branch look to retain the World Championship won by Mike di Meglio in 2008. Vazquez is the reigning titlist in the Spanish version of the series.

`This is a hard year for everyone, but it´s great to have a strong sponsor behind us. This allows us to start off the year on the right track,´ said Espargaro upon hearing of Arguinano´s backing for the project.

`The backing of the best team in 125cc is proof of the great work that we have been doing,´ adds Vazquez. `Besides the assurance of quality parts, it is also an extra motivation for me.´
