Eighth place brings smiles for Dovizioso
Sunday, 1 June 2008
Andrea Dovizioso was happy with eighth place in Mugello, at his debut home MotoGP race.
Andrea Dovizioso rounded off the list of home riders completing the Gran Premio d´Italia Alice, and the MotoGP rookie was pleased to have finished much better than he had expected yesterday afternoon. The JiR Team Scot rider just missed out in a battle with fellow countryman Loris Capirossi, finishing eighth.
Andrea Dovizioso– Eighth
`It was a hard race, not just because of the physical strain, but also because the heat here was very high! I started like a sprinter, and I took a lot of positions and I had a good rhythm, but during the last laps the rear grip was getting less and less. Between yesterday and today we tried two kinds of tyres one hard that didn't give me good grip feeling and one medium that was better but with the possibility of the grip reducing at the end of the race. We considered our start position and chose the second tyre that after a while it started to give less grip. If I didn´t have to go so quick from the start, maybe I would have chosen the first one, however it's been a good race and I enjoyed very much the fight with Loris and he is a very good competitor. This morning I was not very well because my shoulder was in pain but after visiting the Clinica Mobile afterwards, during the race it felt very good. I'm satisfied about this result but we have to improve. I did a good race and this is important for all the team.´
