Fifteenth for Melandri as Oz action commences

The first day of the Australian Grand Prix ended with Ducati´s Marco Melandri in fifteenth position on the free practice timesheets.
Marco Melandri was unable to find a suitable set-up in a dry first free practice on Friday morning at Phillip Island and things did not improve dramatically for him when the rain arrived later in the day.

`It hasn´t been a good first day and, as we´ve seen so many times this year, the change in conditions from one session to the next certainly hasn´t helped. The problems are still the same - I can´t get any feeling for the tyres and I can´t ride the bike like I want. Hopefully the conditions will be more stable tomorrow.´
