Folger continues Grand Prix learning curve
Having made his 125cc World Championship debut at Brno, Red Bull MotoGP academy attendee Jonas Folger is picking up further experience this weekend at Misano.
German youngster Jonas Folger is learning his way around the MotoGP paddock quickly, following his first World Championship experience two weeks ago in the Czech Republic.
The Red Bull MotoGP Academy rider ended the first day at the Gran Premio Cinzano di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini 30th on the timesheet as he continued to build up his Grand Prix knowledge.
Reflecting on his first experiences of the Adriatic Coast venue Folger commented, `Misano is a new track for me. From the outside it looks not so difficult, but you need to have a good line. We had a small problem with the setting, the suspension. Also I need to work on my line. On Saturday I will try to brake earlier and get better on corner exits. Firstly I am here to learn and then we can see what happens.´
The Academy attendee recorded an unfortunate DNF at Brno a fortnight ago, at a track where he had scored a victory in an Alpe Adria Cup race at the end of June, but he enjoyed his debut GP outing at the Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky nonetheless.
Folger had reached the required Grand Prix entry age of 15 just two days before the Czech event and qualified in a respectable position of 23rd for his first World Championship race, only to suffer a technical fault.
He stated, `Brno was important because depending on how I did there I would go to the next race. The Friday and Saturday were not so bad, but on Sunday I broke my clutch. Anyway I learned a lot and I just want to continue like this.´
