Grey start to Saturday at Catalunya

Saturday, 07 June 2008

The paddock awoke to a cool, grey morning at the Circuit de Catalunya on Saturday, with more rain looking a possibility after Friday´s showers.

Cloudy weather at Montmeló for the second day of the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya

After three Spaniards topped the timesheets across the three World Championship classes at the Montmelo track just north of Barcelona on Friday, the trio of home riders will be keen to maintain their good form on Saturday at the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya.

Dani Pedrosa (MotoGP), Alvaro Bautista (250cc) and Pol Espargaro (125cc) were the pace setters on Friday in their respective classes, but were also on the list of 16 riders to crash during yesterday´s practice runs. However, there were more serious accidents for two other Spaniards, Jorge Lorenzo (MotoGP) and Esteve Rabat (125cc), who will take no further part this weekend, with the paddock awaiting updates on their conditions.

The customary final free practice outings will take place this morning, with the riders hoping that any possible showers hold off, with the afternoon qualifying sessions taking place at 1.10pm for the 125cc field, 1.55pm for MotoGP and 3.10pm for the 250cc class.
