Hayden calls in at Oakley Laguna lab
Repsol Honda star Nicky Hayden launched a new line of Oakley sunglasses at Laguna Seca on the eve of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix.
Two-time Laguna Seca race-winner and 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden called in at the Oakley Rolling O Lab Tours facilities in the paddock at the Californian circuit on Thursday, to launch his new line of special edition sunglasses, the Oakley OIL RIG.
The Kentucky Kid took some time out ahead of his home race to visit the travelling Oakley laboratory, where he launched the new line and saw a demonstration of the strength, durability and lens quality of the new sunglasses.
`The hardest part about picking what I wanted for the glass was to narrow it down…the design team over at Oakley gave me so many good ideas,´ explains Hayden. `The only problem was they said I couldn´t have five different pairs, so I had to cut it down to one. I ended up taking what I liked from all of their different design concepts and came up with a glass I am very happy with.´
`I know the color pink may seem a little fruity for a bike racer but it´s the same pink Alpinestars uses on my boots and gloves so it all ties in and nobody else on the grid uses it – it really stands out. Also, I really wanted to do a glass that could work for both men and women, and this one will look great on either. I just hope my fans like it and I look forward to seeing people at the track rockin´em!!!´
