Hayden enters Supermoto event at X Games

Not one to sit still during the summer break, Nicky Hayden was back onboard a Honda bike this past weekend, taking part in the Supermoto event at the 14th edition of the X Games. The American went back to his dirttrack roots for some summer training as an invited guest, pitting his skills against 22 other two-wheeled stars.

The 2006 MotoGP World Champion finished 15th in the Friday practice seeding session, and did not end up competing in the heats themselves on the Saturday. With a tough final run in his day job coming up, Hayden decided against risking injury at a Los Angeles track that had experienced a reshuffle –to include more dirt and a triple jump section- and withdrew his Troy Lee Honda from proceedings.

Hayden will be back in action with his Repsol Honda RC212V on August 15th, in the first practice sessions for MotoGP´s post-break return in the Czech Republic.
