Jacque comments on novelty of riding at IMS
In his role as the main MotoGP test rider for Kawasaki Racing, Frenchman Olivier Jacque is one of those present at this week´s Indianapolis workout.
Kawasaki test rider Olivier Jacque felt there was plenty more work for him to get through after his first outing on the new Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) road course, as he gathered crucial data for `Team Green´ and Bridgestone tyres at the circuit which will be used for the first time in the World Championship later this year.
Jacque´s feedback from the two-day test will help Kawasaki arrive at the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix in September with vital set-up information for their regular riders Anthony West and John Hopkins.
Jacque, who turns 35 next month, analysed Tuesday´s session saying, `The front stretch was very slippery this morning. At the end of the day, it was getting better, not perfect, but it was really tricky in the morning. I was not happy during the day with our setup, so tomorrow we will concentrate more on our chassis setup.´
The experienced Frenchman, 250cc World Champion in 2000, pointed out the peculiar feeling of riding along the walled section of track which the new IMS MotoGP layout features, as it runs through part of the traditional banked Indianapolis oval.
`The track was not difficult to get used to, it took maybe ten laps,´ noted Jacque. `It is quite short, and the biggest problem was getting used to riding against the wall. It´s quite funny to ride against the wall, because that would never happen in one of our usual circuits. When you are only one meter from the wall you really appreciate the speed.´
