Kallio goes fastest in 250cc practice

Mika Kallio led the way ahead of the final 250cc Brno practice session.

Mika Kallio headed an all-KTM top three in the second 250cc free practice session for the Cardion ab Grand Prix Ceske republiky, clocking a 2´09.842 lap on a damp Brno track. The Finn is out to regain the leadership of the quarter-litre standings this weekend, and has a provisional second spot on the grid as a result of yesterday´s wet qualifying run.
Repsol KTM´s Julian Simon was nearly eight-tenths of a second behind his Red Bull title sponsored rival, with Kallio´s teammate Hiroshi Aoyama third quickest in the practice session.
Over 1.5 seconds down on the fastest time of the run, Metis Gilera´s Roberto Locatelli was fourth in the pre-lunch run, with his teammate and series leader Marco Simoncelli way down in thirteenth. Locatelli was in turn faster than local rider Lukas Pesek, Fabrizio Lai, Alex Debon, Yuki Takahashi, Hector Faubel and Mattia Pasini.
Provisional poleman Hector Barbera was sixteenth in the session.
