Key 125cc race statistics
A selected list of 125cc race facts ahead of the lower cylinder class race at the Alice Grand Prix de France.
- Sergio Gadea starts from pole for only the second time in his GP career. His previous pole was at the Valencia in 2005, a race he crashed out of while leading on lap 19. Gadea scored his first ever Grand Prix victory last year at Le Mans.
- Bradley Smith starts from the front row for the fourth time in 2008. Smith´s third place finish last year was his first podium in GP racing and his only podium of 2007.
- Stefan Bradl will be aiming to be the first German rider to win in the 125cc class since Steve Jenkner won at Assen in 2003.
- Championship leader Simone Corsi starts from the front row for just the second time in 2008.
- Sandro Cortese (fifth) starts from his best grid position since the Malaysian GP last year. Last year at Le Mans he finished seventh which equalled his best ever GP result.
- Mike di Meglio will be aiming to be the first French rider to win a 125cc GP at Le Mans since Guy Bertin in 1979 riding a Motobecane.
