Recovering Lorenzo spends special day with fans
Jorge Lorenzo was a busy man on Saint George´s Day, spending Wednesday afternoon with his fans in Barcelona, signing their copies of his recently published biography.
Fiat Yamaha´s brilliant MotoGP World Championship-leading rookie Jorge Lorenzo has been keeping his fans happy on Saint George´s Day, signing copies of his new book `Por fuera desde dentro´ in Barcelona.
The literal translation of the play-on-words title of the 20 year-old´s biography, which incorporates a phrase referring to his riding philosophy, is `Around the outside from the inside´, and the book written by Spanish journalist Ernest Riveras has proved a big hit with Lorenzo´s ever-growing fanclub.
On the day when the Catalan capital explodes with colour in celebration of their patron saint - Sant Jordi to the locals - the regional tradition is for men to buy women a rose and the ladies respond by buying a book for their loved one - a popular choice on this occasion being a signed copy of Lorenzo´s life story to date.
At his last public appearance before the Pramac Grand Prix of China on 4th May, Lorenzo found time to catch up with motogp.com, providing an update on his fitness following the recent operation on his right forearm to relieve the `arm pump´ syndrome he was experiencing.
`The arm is really good,´ said the double 250cc World Champion. `I´m really pleased that I will be able to ride in China, although I won´t be at 100% obviously. It´s a bit stiff depending on how I move it, but I´m really motivated and want to do everything as well as I can.´
On the publication of his book he commented, `It was one of those things I really wanted to do two or three years ago, then again after winning my first title I wanted to write it, but it still wasn´t the right time because I still hadn´t achieved too much. So when I won the title again I thought we could write something for the fans, to let them know a few things they didn't know about.´
When asked if he would consider writing a second edition if he won the MotoGP title Lorenzo replied, `You never know! I don´t know what I´ll do tomorrow, but I would like to write the second part later on down the line, in four or five years.´
Commenting on his amazing start to the season which has seen him take three poles and three podiums in his first three races, including a brilliant win at Estoril in round three in Portugal, Lorenzo enthused, `You can´t ask for anything more. From here on every result we get is like a bonus and we have to enjoy every moment as if it is our last.´
