New contract and improved machinery for Redding in 2009

Friday, 5 September 2008

Scott Redding will continue with Blusens Aprilia in the 125cc class next season, riding an Aprilia RSA.

British rookie Scott Redding, winner of his home 125cc race at Donington Park earlier this year, has been rewarded for his efforts as part of the Blusens Aprilia team with a new contract –and the promise of improved machinery for the 2009 campaign.

The Gloucestershire teenager will have at his disposal a coveted Aprilia RSA 125 for his sophomore year in the World Championship, with the hope that he can further improve on his dazzling debut season and perhaps push for the title.

`Scott was one of the cornerstones of our short and medium term plans for this project, and to have him continue with us enables us to lay out our future in a calm fashion,´ said Blusens Aprilia General Manager, Ricard Jove.

`We´re talking about a one of the best riders in the World Championship, so for the team the fact that he is continuing with us is confirmation of the good job that we are doing and that our ambitions are no pipe dream. We have an ambitious project for 2009 in preparation, so that Scott can have the best material possible available to him. It´s one that will ensure that both the team and the rider continue to grow together.´

Redding himself had no doubts about putting pen to paper on the new contract, noting that `(Blusens Aprilia boss) Raul Romero and Ricard Jove have both been very much behind me, and have had faith in my potential, since the very beginning. In addition, they are making a big effort to ensure that we get much stronger and are able to be truly competitive.´

Redding is currently on the brink of the top ten in the 125cc World Championship standings, and has qualified on the front row on four occasions in 2008. His Donington Park victory ended a long run without a home Grand Prix win for a British rider.
