Packed schedule for Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix
A wealth of action both on and off-track is filling the time schedule at the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix this weekend.
The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix may only feature the MotoGP class of the World Championship on track, but there are plenty of events accompanying the visit to Stateside to fill up the time schedule this weekend.
Proceedings at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca kick off with the Riders for Health Live Auction on Thursday afternoon, with a multitude of memorabilia and passes for further race weekend special occasions going under the hammer at the turn 4 hospitality suite. Guest of Honor Wayne Rainey will be on stage, alongside Randy Mamola, Colin Edwards, Ben Spies, James Toseland, Marco Melandri, Randy de Puniet, Toni Elias and Sylvain Guintoli, as the lots are auctioned off.
MotoGP Legends Kenny Roberts Sr. and Eddie Lawson join Rainey in becoming a Legend of Laguna Seca, in a presentation also taking place on Thursday.
Friday welcomes the MotoGP Fan Party presented by LeoVince Exhausts in the Turn 5 Parts Unlimited hospitality chalet, from 5-7 p.m. The party hosts free door prizes (including a HJC helmet, Kawasaki Joe Rocket riding jacket and LeoVince Exhausts), rider appearances, Miss Mazda Raceway appearances, snacks and beverages.
On Friday and Saturday evening Cannery Row in Monterey will come alive for `Race Nights on the Row´ at which thousands of riders gather on the Row and are invited to park their motorcycles for show. The event is from 5-11 p.m. and is free.
After Saturday´s qualifying practice for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, Tech 3 Yamaha´s James Toseland will once again demonstrate his musical skills in the Laguna Seca paddock. The Briton will be performing a two-hour set with his band `Crash!´ from 5pm in the Yamaha Marketplace.
Those fans wishing to meet former racing champions over MotoGP´s three day Californian excursion will not want to miss the autograph sessions for the Yamaha Weekend of Champions. The aforementioned Lawson, Rainey and Mamola will be joined by the likes of Scott Russell, Doug Henry, Steve Baker and many more in autograph sessions on Friday (12-1.30pm), Saturday (12pm-1.30pm, 3pm-4.40pm) and Sunday (9.30-11am, 12.30-1pm).
