Pons expecting Corsi and Terol frontrunning repeat

Himself an experienced Grand Prix winner, former rider Sito Pons tasted glory once again in his new role within the Jack&Jones WRB team last Sunday. Riders Simone Corsi and Nico Terol took a memorable one-two at the Gran Premio bwin.com de España in the 125cc class, and Pons is expecting this to be a familiar sight over the course of the season.
`I´m sure that this year, at all the races, we will see both riders at the front,´ said the Spanish team boss.
`It was superb. To start this team this year and have first and second here is unbelievable; we knew that we had potential because everybody in the team has a lot of experience,´ continued Pons, who last masterminded a Grand Prix victory in the 2005 Portuguese MotoGP race, won by Alex Barros.
`We knew that we had a chance to fight for the championship with Simone, and we expected an improvement from Nico. But this isn't an improvement, this is a big jump up. Nico did a good thing not to fight with Simone, and instead take his first podium.´
The Jerez date also held added importance for Pons, due to the participation of the Jack&Jones WRB team´s wild card entrant. Sixteen years on from Pons´ last World Championship appearance at Jerez, his progeny Axel made his 125cc debut in an emotional moment for the two generations. Unfortunately Axel eventually crashed out of the race, just one lap from the chequered flag.
