Rain arrives at Donington Park ahead of Saturday action

As widely anticipated on Friday some typically wet British weather at Donington Park early on Saturday will change the focus for the riders and teams in their morning free practice sessions.

Rainfall on the second day of action of the bwin.com British Grand Prix weekend was hardly a surprise, based on previous World Championship visits to the circuit in England´s East Midlands region and given the pattern of inclement weather which has followed MotoGP on its travels thus far in 2008.

After a cloudy but dry Friday the teams will now have a chance to perfect their wet weather set-ups ahead of a potentially rain-affected afternoon of qualifying and more rain on Sunday.

With a victory in the Donington Park rain last year under his belt and with the excellent pace he demonstrated on Friday, Ducati Marlboro´s Casey Stoner will be quietly confident of a successful weekend as he looks to make up ground on the likes of Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo in the World Championship standings.

In addition to this afternoon´s qualifying practices in the three respective classes, the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup riders will also be in action – with their sixth race of the 2008 season at 4.20pm local time.
