Simoncelli prepares for victory with fastest warmup time
Sunday, 22 June 2008
Marco Simoncelli gave a convincing performance in the 250cc Sunday warmup at Donington Park.

Chasing his third win in as many races, Marco Simoncelli started his Sunday in perfect fashion with the quickest time in the 250cc warmup. With a time of 1´33.933, the Metis Gilera man was the only rider to go round in under 1´34, with a 0.3 advantage over poleman Alvaro Bautista.
The two line up alongside each other once more on the quarter litre grid, and were joined by the second row KTM duo of Julian Simon and Hiroshi Aoyama at the top of the warmup timesheet.
Whilst the top four showed promising form on what should be a difficult track to navigate in the mixed weather conditions –the 250cc race last year was one of the most crash filled of the year- front row starter Hector Barbera will be praying for a dry track. The Team Toth rider was outside the top ten in the damp warmup, in seventeenth place.
Current series leader Mika Kallio recorded the eighth fastest time of the morning session.
