Simone Corsi: `Nico and I will be competitive in China´
The standout performer thus far in 2008 in the 125cc class, Simone Corsi turned 21 on Thursday, but still found time for a chat with motogp.com.
The Jack&Jones WRB 125cc team have started the season in spectacular style with both of their riders at the top of the standings, the Italian rider Simone Corsi leading the way with 59 points on the back of successive victories at Jerez and Estoril.
Celebrating his 21st birthday this week, when Corsi spoke to motogp.com he was in an unsurprisingly upbeat mood as he predicted more success for himself and team-mate Nico Terol, who trails him by 17 points in second place in the standings.
`Well after a few problems in preseason I really didn't expect to be on top at this point,´ said Corsi before going on to refer to his seventh place result at Losail.
`In Qatar I would have got a better result if I had made a better start to the race. But even there I realised that this could be a good season and then in Spain and Portugal it proved to be the case. Obviously I´m very happy.´
Revealing what he believes to be the reasons behind his great start, Corsi continued, `I feel really at ease in the team, me and Nico are both giving 100%. We have a great partnership, he has improved since last year and we are doing well together in the races. I hope things stay like this until the end of the year.´
Looking ahead to round four Corsi said of the visit to Shanghai, `Nico and I will be competitive in China. I think there could be a group of us fighting for the win right up until the end because it is hard to get away with such a long straight there, but I´m pretty positive about things.´
