Stoner reveals setting change which aided time improvements

World Champion Casey Stoner was ominously quick in both of Friday´s free practice outings at the Donington Park circuit, ending the day half a second up on the rest of the field and citing recent tweaks to the electronics of his Ducati Desmosedici GP8 as the reason for his rapid pace.

The Australian was by far the fastest man on track at the venue where he took one of his ten 2007 victories, completing the day with a 1´28.253 lap which blew away Colin Edwards´ pole position time from last year, as he took full advantage of improvements made to his prototype Italian race machinery in testing last week.

On Friday afternoon Stoner told motogp.com, `Things have been a lot better since the test in Barcelona. We have been struggling a bit in these last few races. We´ve been getting faster in one way but we just can´t seem to get that last bit and the bike has been reacting quite harshly to each racetrack. We worked very hard on the Tuesday test at Catalunya and we came up with a solution which seems to be working and hopefully it is going to continue to work for the rest of the season.´

Going into further detail on the changes his team have made to the GP8 Stoner added, `Last year in certain areas where we were struggling we seem to have made those points disappear, so we are able to do some pretty good lap times. The power delivery system had been causing the bike to pump and move around a lot and with the change in setting we have made to the electronics it has toned that area down and made it a lot calmer.´
