Summer weight loss target for series leader Di Meglio

Having gained points at a rate of knots in the 125cc World Championship, Mike di Meglio is looking to lose weight over the summer break. The series leader and winner of the most recent race in Germany, Di Meglio will use the gap between the Sachsenring showdown and the August 17th round at Brno to get into the best condition possible for his title assault.

`It´s nice to be the series leader going into the summer break. Now I can relax at home and not stress out, because we are doing a good job, notes the Frenchman, who has established himself as the man to beat in the lower cylinder category since a switch to the Ajo Motorsport team for 2008.

`I´ll just try and lose some kilos for the next race, because on the straight it feels difficult for me and I don´t know if it´s because I am too big.´

Di Meglio certainly carries the most weight at the present time in the 125cc standings, with a hefty 30 point advantage over nearest rival Simone Corsi. The 2008 season so far has surprised even the rider himself, who admits that his success has been completely unexpected.

`I didn´t think that I would be at the top of the classification, 30 points ahead of the second placed rider, at the start of the year. It´s nice, especially after a difficult two years,´ beamed the current 125cc top dog.
