Toseland confident of Michelin fightback in Brno
James Toseland returns to battle this weekend with his Yamaha M1, and with the expectation of an improvement from his tyre providers.
One of the Michelin stars giving a less-than-five-star review of the tyre situation at Laguna Seca, James Toseland is confident that the French fabricant can make an immediate fightback at Brno this weekend.
The Briton had been expecting more from his American visit, having performed well at the track in the past. He know arrives at another familiar circuit, with expectations that events will pan out differently on Sunday afternoon.
`We´ve got a Michelin meeting coming up, and I´m sure that they are going to come back fighting and have every confidence in them. They´ve got the funding, the technology and the know-how to improve, and I hope that they can for the sake of the show,´ said the Tech 3 Yamaha rookie upon arrival in the Czech Republic.
`My best position this year has been sixth, and I was really confident at Laguna Seca that with a bit more grip we could have done a lot better.´
Another unknown quantity for Toseland will come from his M1 itself, with Yamaha slightly modifying the motor over the past three weeks in anticipation of the Czech round.
`We´ve hopefully got a new engine spec here, which will be vital because it´s such a fast track. It´s nice to be back here; it´s a track at which I have done well in previous years and know well, and also one of the best in my opinion for the layout.´
