UEM Road-Racing European Championship Albacete 2008 – Preview
A look ahead to the weekend´s action in Albacete, the scene of the 2008 UEM Road-Racing European Championship.
The circuit of Albacete in Spain plays host to the UEM Road-Racing European Championship this weekend, with three categories of two-wheeled action taking to the track on October 10th-12th.
In 2008 the format for the competition has moved to a single-day event, leaving the riders with just one chance to take the crown.
The European Champion will be decided in the 125GP, Supersport and Superstock 1000 classes on Sunday, with a day of qualifying preceding the title-deciding races on Saturday. Riders from various national and regional championships, amongst them some ex-World Championship competitors, will pit their skills against one another for the prestigious title and a share of the 90,000 euros of combined prize money up for grabs. Also included as a support class is a Womens event.
Riders taking part include Swedish and Scandinavian Champion Robert Gull, CEV Buckler Spanish titlist Alberto Moncayo and Italian series contender Lorenzo Savadori (all 125GP) plus Supersport stars Nenad Stojanovic, Sergei Krapukhin, Kev Coghlan and Angel Rodriguez. The Superstock 1000 competition features the likes of former MotoGP wildcard Ivan Silva and 2007 Womens Champion Nina Prinz on track.
Practice begins on Friday, with the Sunday races taking place as follows:
10:45 -Women's Class 12 Laps
11:45 -Superstock 1000 20 Laps
12:45 -Supersport 20 Laps
14:00 -125GP 18 Laps
