Vazquez vanquishes rivals to take Spanish title

The final round of the 2008 CEV Buckler Spanish Buckler took place this past Sunday in Jerez, with Efren Vazquez taking the title courtesy of second place. The Blusens Aprilia rider had arrived in southern Spain as the leader of the 125GP standings, following the penultimate round the previous week in Valencia.

Victory in the race itself went to Randy Krummenacher, the Swiss rider using the Spanish series for his first `tests´ with the Degraaf Grand Prix Aprilia. Krummenacher will be using the bike for an assault on the 125cc title in the World Championship next year, and for the second consecutive CEV Buckler race he put the machine on pole in Saturday qualifying.

The podium was completed by Adrian Martin, competing for the successful Aspar team with whom he made his World Championship debut this year.

The race had been a four-way battle between the podium finishers and second Blusens Aprilia rider Luis Salom, although the fight was narrowed down to a duel between Krummenacher and Vazquez in the final third. Salom had been suffering from a hand injury, and lost out on his own chance to take the title after finishing behind Vazquez.
