Young German Folger takes first victory at Brno

German youngster Jonas Folger, one of this year´s Red Bull MotoGP Academy riders, took victory at Brno over the weekend, as he continued his European apprenticeship, acquainting himself with various Grand Prix circuits in selected national and continental Championship rounds.

Following recent visits to Mugello and Sachsenring, which saw him step on to the podium with second place finishes at both venues, Folger took his first European win in the Central European Championship at Brno, which will of course host the Cardion AB Grand Prix Ceske Republiky in August.

Folger quickly mastered the Czech venue to clinch pole with a 0.8s advantage over Gabriele Gnani and went on to take victory over the Italian in the race. Once again Folger adapted swiftly to a previously unfamiliar venue, building up crucial experience on one of the most demanding GP tracks on the MotoGP calendar.

The level of Folger´s performances so far this season will now be taken into account by Red Bull MotoGP Academy officials as they determine his schedule for the second half of the year.
