Further testing in Valencia for lower cylinder categories

Further testing in Valencia for lower cylinder categories

Testing continues for 125cc and 250cc riders at Spanish track.

The lower cylinder category testing schedule rolls on in Spain this weekend, as the action moves from Jerez to Valencia. Two days of testing await a selection of stars, as they prepare for the 2009 season.

The fastest rider in the recent 250cc class test at Jerez, Alvaro Bautista will continue with his workload at the track which is home territory for his Aspar team. The Spaniard will be joined by new teammate Mike di Meglio and Aspar affiliate Gabor Talmacsi as the key quarter-litre category riders participating in the test, all on Aprilia machinery.

Honda line up two teams for the Valencia outing -Hiroshi Aoyama & Raffaele de Rosa onboard the Team Scot bikes whilst Ratthapark Wilairot & Hector Faubel put in in more laps for Thai Honda- completing the 250cc lineup along with new category addition Bastien Chesaux and Alex Baldolini.

Originally pencilled in for the test, 250cc World Champion Marco Simoncelli will instead begin testing for 2009 at a later date.

In 125cc title aspirants Julian Simon, Bradley Smith, Scott Redding and Stefan Bradl ride their factory Aprilia bikes at Valencia for their respective teams. The former two were fastest in Jerez at their initial test of the year, and will look to build on their early success. Sandro Cortese, Esteve Rabat, Johann Zarco, Marc Marquez and Cameron Beaubier also feature in the outing.

The Valencia test takes place from Saturday, January 31st to Sunday, February 1st.
