Corsi wants fast lap before beginning Thursday workload

Jack&Jones rider wants to put his own stamp on MotoGP Official Test.

Having watched rival Julian Simon put in a speedy lap of the Circuito de Jerez on Wednesday, afternoon absentee Simone Corsi is targeting a quick time of his own on Thursday.

Expected to challenge for the title in 2009, the Roman’s testing workload was halted in the afternoon 125cc session after just a pair of laps due to an engine problem. The technical difficulty did not come at the best of times for Corsi, as Simon continued to show himself to be a strong form in southern Spain.

“In the morning I was able to ride a fastest time of around 1’49.9, but in the afternoon I couldn’t ride a full session,” said Corsi on Wednesday. “It’s a shame, because we were going well and the conditions out there were better than before.

“I saw that Simon put in a really good time, and he’s showing that he’s a tough rival. For that reason, although I have a lot of things to work on, I am going to go for a fast lap tomorrow before trying out new things.”

Corsi and the rest of the 125cc riders will be on track on Thursday from 10am local time, alongside their 250cc counterparts.
