‘Different’ day for Pasini in southern Spain

‘Different’ day for Pasini in southern Spain

Italian still confident of necessary 2009 preparations, despite late start.

A late addition to the 250cc grid for 2009, Mattia Pasini admits that he has a lot to work on this week in Jerez. The Italian’s efforts to catch up with the riders with more track time to their name was affected on Wednesday by an afternoon crash, although he is still content with the work done to date.

“Let’s say that today was a little ‘different’ for me,” said Pasini after the second 250cc session of the day. “I’m coming back after five months without testing, so we’re still starting our work.”

A collision with Axel Pons left the Spaniard physically worse off than Pasini, although the Team Toth newcomer had to sit out for a spell whilst his bike was fixed.

“I had an incident with Pons on the last corner and, although I tweaked my neck slightly, I am physically fine. We’re working well together, there is still, however, a lot of work for us to do.”

Pasini is undertaking his second season in the 250cc category, and his first with the Team Toth outfit onboard a factory Aprilia RSA.
