Bad day for Bradl in Thursday test sessions

Bad day for Bradl in Thursday test sessions

German delayed 1.5 hours by mechanical problem before highsiding Aprilia in afternoon run.

Stefan Bradl was dealt a double blow on Thursday in Jerez, suffering a series of mechanical problems topped off with a nasty highside. The expected 125cc title challenger was left ruing his fortunes after a day to forget, and could see problems with his participation in Friday’s final day of action.

“Today has been worse than bad, everything went wrong,” reflected the German rider. “In the morning we tried some laps, but something felt strange with the bike. We spent 1.5 hours stripping it down and searching for the problem, before we found out that we had a broken swingarm.

“After that we still had trouble braking on the corner, so it was back to the garage again. There we found a broken steering damper.”

Bradl experienced a few positive laps, before falling at the final corner of the track in the afternoon 125cc-only session.

“The bike felt like a new machine, it was magic. Then I got to the last corner, thought that I should open the throttle, and got caught out with a highside. It was a stupid mistake on my part, and it has left my hand swollen and bruised from the fall. I will wait and see if I can ride on Friday.”
