Jerez breakthrough brings delight to Pesek

Jerez breakthrough brings delight to Pesek

Czech competitor “more or less” ready for season curtain-raiser.

In a class dominated by factory machinery, Lukas Pesek made a big impression on Thursday afternoon with the fifth fastest time of the day’s 250cc testing, riding an Aprilia LE.

The Auto Kelly – CP rider was in fine spirit after the breakthrough session at the MotoGP Official Test, and declared himself to be almost ready for the first race of the season in Qatar.

“I am really happy with the way the day went today,” said the Czech rider after the 250cc-only run. “We found a setting that I really like, and I am more confident with the bike than ever.

“We are more or less ready for Qatar now, after a lot of hard work. Today was perfect for me.”

Pesek returned to the quarter-litre class in 2008 after challenging for the 125cc title the previous year, but had a tough first campaign adapting to the class and underpowered machinery. He is targeting an improvement and a chance to fight amongst the frontrunners in 2009, and will tomorrow switch his focus to tyre testing in order to put the finishing touches on the Jerez visit.
