Lorenzo gives reaction to topping Saturday timesheet

Fiat Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo was understandably pleased with Saturday’s results in Jerez, when he reflected on the day’s activity.

Preparing for his second season in the premier class, Jorge Lorenzo was MotoGP’s top man on Saturday at the Official Test in Jerez, a circuit where he himself holds the pole position record.

The Spaniard qualified in first position for last year’s Jerez race, just as he did at the opening round in Qatar, and he again demonstrated his talent on Saturday in the eight hour test session as he beat team-mate and World Champion Valentino Rossi to top spot with a best time of 1’39.791.

Reviewing the day’s work he commented, “I am so satisfied with the result of today’s test because we went very fast right from the beginning. Also, we feel even more confident. In fact more confident than in Qatar, so this is very positive.”

Last year Lorenzo was still learning to ride 800cc machinery at the time of the MotoGP Official Test in Jerez and he finished 16th in the BMW M Award showdown last time out. He is in far better shape for the 45-miunte shootout this time around and believes he can improve on his Saturday times on the second day in Andalusia.

The factory Yamaha youngster stated, “I still feel I have some margin for improvement. The team is working well and Ramon (Forcada, Crew Chief) is trying to give me a bit more so I can improve the lap times. The M1 is a bike which wheelies a lot, so we need to fix that and if we can improve in that area we will accelerate with more power.”
