Preparative work order of the day for Honda stand-in Akiyoshi

Preparative work order of the day for Honda stand-in Akiyoshi

Repsol Honda focusing on base settings on Saturday in Jerez with HRC tester.

The remainder of the MotoGP teams are undertaking their final preseason test of the year in Jerez this weekend, but for one rider the Saturday and Sunday track time requires some preparative work.

Honda test rider Kousuke Akiyoshi has been drafted in for his first ride onboard the RC212V, replacing injured regular rider Dani Pedrosa. The Japanese newcomer is providing a helping hand to the Repsol Honda team, although his presence also gives them plenty of extra work in setting up the bike, as Chief Mechanic Mike Leitner explained on Saturday morning.

“The work now is just general things, such as the setup and engine mapping. First we have to adapt to the new rider, but it is good to have a test rider experiencing the race team atmosphere straight away,” said Leitner.

“We have a few requests from Honda for things to test, also from Dani, so there is a mixture to get through at this test.”
