Savadori says that ‘now is the time’

Savadori says that ‘now is the time’

Italian newcomer wants to show true potential at Le Mans round.

The expectations for a 125cc rookie in the opening quarter of his maiden season usually extend little further than learning a new bike and new tracks. Not so for 2009 debutant Lorenzo Savadori, who is not in the least content with the first handful of World Championship races.

“Twenty-first in the standings is not a true reflection of my potential. Now is the time for me to show what I am capable of doing,” says the Team Fontana rider, who targets immediate improvement at a track –Le Mans- where he has never ridden before.

“I’m going to give my all to be as fast as possible, even though I don’t know the circuit and have very little time in which to learn it. My bike is fast, the team is exceptional, and I have everything that I need to go well. I’m a ‘newbie’, as you can see from things like my crash in Japan when up in fourth, but any kind of experience is useful for me.”

Savadori has targeted a minimum of a top fifteen finish at the Grand Prix de France, which would give the reigning European Champion his first World Championship points.
