Canepa turns twenty-one in Le Mans paddock

Pramac Racing rider surprised in team garage with cake presentation.

Everyone can remember where they were on the day of their 21st birthday. For Pramac Racing’s Niccoló Canepa, that location was the Le Mans paddock, where he was treated to a surprise celebration in the team’s garage.

Canepa was lured to the Ducati satellite team’s weekend base under the guise of a routine pre-GP interview, before other members of the squadron emerged from the wings. He was presented with a cake and received an Italian rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, which left him beaming with smiles.

“It has been a great surprise that I really didn’t expect,” said the MotoGP rookie. “Everybody says that I need more experience to be a top rider, so now I’m a little closer!”

As grateful as he was for the cake, however, Canepa won’t be tucking in to second helpings ahead of an important fourth MotoGP race.

“It’s a lovely cake, but I can’t eat any of course! I’m already a little too fat!” joked the birthday boy.
