Luthi rounds off Saturday morning top of the pile

Emmi - Caffe Latte competitor was fastest 250cc FP2 rider.

Swiss rider Thomas Luthi (Emmi – Caffe Latte) topped the timesheet in the final free practice of Saturday morning at Le Mans with a best time of 1’40.243, as the rain returned to the French Grand Prix 20 minutes from the end of the 250cc outing.

Also featuring at the business end of the timesheet were World Champion Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera) and Álvaro Bautista (Mapfre Aspar), the latter crashing inconsequentially, as both lapped within one tenth of a second of Luthi.

Also on the pace were Italian rider Mattia Pasini (Team Toth Aprilia) and championship leader Hiroshi Aoyama (Scot Racing), both in the top five.

Héctor Barberá (Pepe World Team Aprilia), Álex Debón (Aeropuerto Castello-Blusens), Bautista’s Aspar colleague Mike di Meglio, Karel Abraham (Cardion AB Motoracing) and Roberto Locatelli (Metis Gilera) all posted top ten times, whilst there was another light crash for twelfth fastest participant Jules Cluzel (Matteoni Racing).
