Signs of sunshine for race day at Assen

Signs of sunshine for race day at Assen

The threat of rain did not appear to be imminent as the riders commenced their warm-up sessions on Saturday at the Alice TT Assen.

Warm temperatures and a thin layer of cloud overhead greeted the World Championship participants and the inflowing crowds at Assen on Saturday morning with sunshine rather than rain looking likely for the round seven raceday action.

The weatherman are predicting that rain will arrive, but not until late in the afternoon in the north of the Netherlands so the three Grand Prix classes may well get a second consecutive full dry weekend of practice and racing, after the sunshine of Barcelona last time out.

In the Saturday morning MotoGP warm-up at 9.40am local time the likes of poleman Valentino Rossi and his fellow front row starters Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo will be looking for any psychological edge they can find, whilst fourth fastest qualifier Casey Stoner says he is fairly confident with his race set-up already.

You can follow the developing weather conditions at Assen throughout the day, via the webcam.
