Simoncelli the pace man as 250cc field make final checks

The 250cc warm up at the Cardion ab Czech Republic Grand Prix saw Marco Simoncelli lapping ahead of his rivals.

With the 250cc class preparing for their 12.15pm race in this morning’s warm up at Brno it was reigning World Champion and pole-setter Marco Simoncelli (Metis Gilera) who set the early pace.

The Italian’s time of 2’02.562 kept him in front of the pack, but in second place was Scot Racing’s standings leader Hiroshi Aoyama who was fractionally behind Simoncelli and has looked ominously consistent throughout the weekend.

Also on the pace were Héctor Barberá (Pepe World Team), Ratthapark Wilairot (Thai Honda PTT SAG) and Roberto Locatelli (Metis Gilera) in the top five, whilst Álvaro Bautista (Mapfre Aspar Team) was seventh quickest and lapped within a second of Simoncelli.
