First points for Németh give confidence a boost

In his fourth World Championship race Balázs Németh scored his first points last Sunday at Brno.

Having made his comeback at Donington Park before the summer break - from an injury sustained in testing after just two Grand Prix appearances earlier this year - Balázs Németh scored his first career points at the Cardion ab Czech Republic Grand Prix, where he started in 18th place on the grid.

Although 14th place will only be seen as a building block for the Hungarian rider as part of the highly competitive Aspar structure, the points were highly cherished by Németh and the Balatonring Team as they were earned in front of a huge following of fans from neighbouring Hungary at Brno.

Németh commented, “I am delighted with the result, and to finally have some World Championship points. The start was better than any that I’ve done before; not losing a single position was a very positive point. I started overtaking other riders and on the second lap I was already 15th. I saw that there wasn't much space between myself and the rider ahead of me, so I pushed to catch him.”

“I felt very comfortable on the Aprilia and lap by lap was able to reduce my times, thinking about taking points for the first time. The bike worked fantastically well during the race, thanks to the work that my mechanics had performed throughout the whole weekend. I know that now I can ride quickly, and the goal from here on in is to keep up this kind of performance.”
